CornsCorns are dense areas of hard skin which are caused by excessive shearing and pressure over an area of skin, usually where there is an underlying boney prominence.
They have a centralised nucleus or core, which can be very painful and occur on the bottom of the feet, on the tops of the toes and in between the toes. They can form due to abnormal mechanical alignment of the feet, due to deformities such as bunions and hammer toes and from ill-fitting footwear. TreatmentsTreatment involves painless removal of the corn and various padding or silicone appliances can be made in order to prevent them from reoccurring.
